Homebuyer
Education
Dunbar Economic Development Corporation provides homebuyer education counseling and related economic education (wealth building) programs to individuals and families with low to moderate incomes. The pre and post homeownership counseling and education program is a mutually supportive and educational process that helps to build responsible homeowners by providing them with information to enable them to become and remain homeowners. The purpose is to provide on-going support to motivate, encourage, and assist potential homeowners in overcoming barriers to purchase a home. The curriculum has been tailored to best meet the needs of the Vernon Central community, and includes educational materials, interactive activities, real life examples, and terminology, which is crucial before and after purchasing a home. Sessions are conducted in both English and Spanish.
Credit
Repair
For those individual and families that need assistance in establishing and/or rebuilding credit, Dunbar EDC also provides credit counseling and credit repair. Specific assistance includes obtaining credit reports from the three reporting agencies, establishing a credit history, credit disputes, and debt repayment negotiations.
Loan
Packaging
Additional assistance for our first time homebuyer clients include real estate loan packaging, as well as, sourcing down payment and closing costs assistance and/or subsidies such as the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco AHP and WISH programs and the Los Angeles City and County soft second loan programs.
